MOSCOW, Nov 1 (PRIME) -- Losses of the Russian segment of U.S. social network Twitter because of refusal of local companies to place advertisements may reach millions of U.S. dollars, Oleg Morozov, head of a working group of the state sovereignty committee at the Federation Council, the parliament’s upper house, told reporters on Wednesday.

“We’re talking about dozens of companies that work with Twitter here, in Russia. They’re both with state and private capital,” Morozov said.

Senators earlier recommended Russian companies abstain from placing advertising with Twitter as a response to discrimination of local news channel RT in the U.S. Twitter earlier refused to place ads of RT and news agency Sputnik.
